Awoman in labour has mixedfeelings—on one side she is happy that the pregnancy season is over and she isexcited on the prospects of nursing her own baby; but on the other hand she isweary and anxious of the pain and suffering she has to endure as she goesthrough labour pains, a process necessary if she has to nurse her own baby.

Manyfolks are pregnant (of a book, movie,ministry, business) their due datelong overdue, no wonder they are restless, in pain, emotionally hyped andmisunderstood. If you are one of the pregnant folks, check yourself into delivery suite (prayer and meditation room)—ask a midwife (pastor, mentor,partner) for help…Request induced labour (or C-section) if necessary butfor God’s sake ‘give birth’ right now in Jesus Name!

Wave your Magic Wand

It is amazing to see the change (within and without) when one realizes that all one has to do is to apply (make use of) what one already know and have to become happy, healthy and wealthy. It is easier to think that the answer to our troubles lies out there—with the government, better education, more money, powerful allies.

But all you need to cross to the other side, to get to the next levelof your life, ministry, career, relationship IS ALREADY WITH(IN) YOU. What is it that you do and do well—act, sing, make people laugh, teach, cook, care, preach, sport—that’s your magic wand, wave it to cross your troubled waters as you serve others, to His Glory!

Dreams can come True!

“…“Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?…” © Luke 14:28 NIV emphasis and italics mine

It is not enough to dream, have visions, aspirations and great desires at heart IF these are not translated into PAPER, PLANS made and the first PRACTICAL steps are taken getting the dreamer closer to the dream. Many are dreamers, but few, very few wake up and roll their sleeves to go to work...and these are the few whose dreams come true!

Jesus in the scripture above is teaching us to be planners; that is we sit down and disconnect ourselves from the dreams and look at it objectively as we start planning towards it--the resources we will need and how much it will cost us (not necessarily financial costs). Do you have a dream 2012? wake up and begin to work towards it no matter how small the steps.

Use your Platform

“...If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless...”(c) Phil 3:4-6, KJV italics mine

Ever wondered why most of the New Testament was not written by one of the twelve apostles who were close to Jesus? Why Paul? A close inspection of who he was gives a clue. A Pharisee of Pharisees, zealous of keeping God of Moses, He was God’s perfect candidate to preach ‘Grace’ to the ‘Gentiles’.

May I submit to you that who you are—education, experience, marital status, job title, wealth, position and power is all but a platform from which you gain not only acceptance but also legitimacy to minister to certain profile of people. My question is, are you using your platform for the Kingdom or basking in your own glory and self importance?

It's your Call

The scripture says whatever Adam called, so it was (being and nature). To date God still brings to us our marriage, work, business, children, ministry, relationships etc to see what we will call them AND whatsoever we call them, SO SHALL THEY BE, for like Him we are gods...when we call (speak), we create, bring forth.

I have therefore chosen to call my children—highly favoured, my household—prosperous and abundantly supplied, my ministry—anointed effective and lacking nothing, my marriage—happy, healthy and fruitful. I challenge you thus to name yours; it’s your call for as you call them, so shall they be

Lord, Give me a Break!

Whenwill I catch a break?…is the cry of many people…meaningwhen will God (or the Universe!) stop my miseryand set me up for lucky breaks (winlottery, super promotion, discover goldmine in the backyard) that is withlittle or no effort on my part. ButGod says, I have given you time andchance, the rest is up to you.

Time means lifeand chance means opportunities (breaks, prospects, gifts) to take advantage of time.We are all given time and chance, itis in how we recognizeand make use of our time andchance that ‘we set “ourselves” up’ for breaks in life…”breaks” happens when anopportunity meets ‘our preparations’.

Where is your Heart?

It is said that the closest thing to a man ishis wallet [followed by his work, friends and family (mmh messed up priority)].Yet when man is in love, he lets go of the wallet (and time) to the object ofhis affection—be it a person or athing (car, house, ministry) for we send our treasure where our heart is set.

You say you love God? Let’s see how much of your time and money goes to Him (His Kingdom). The point is, to know where yourheart is (or end up being), start trackingwhere you spend most of your moneyfor where your heart is (or wants to be), that is where you will put your money(treasure).

Hush, don't sweat it!

“…So he came to the sheepfolds by the road, where there was a cave; and Saul went in to attend to his needs. (David and his men were staying in the recesses of the cave) Then the men of David said to him, “This is the day of which the LORD said to you, ‘Behold, I will deliver your enemy into your hand…’…“The LORD forbid that I should do this thing to my master, the LORD’s anointed, to stretch out my hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the LORD.” So David restrained his servants with these words, and did not allow them to rise against Saul…” ©1 Sam 24:3,4,7 NKJV italics and emphasis mine

While David was already anointed to be the King, he continued to serve under Saul—the King, faithfully. He later became a fugitive in fear for his life as the Saul wanted him dead. But when he had an opportunity to take the King’s life and thus reign as King, he didn’t but continued to trust God’s Time in spite of the circumstances showing contrary.

Has God spoken or envisioned you of your destiny? Trust His time…resist the urge to make things happen. If you do, you will have to keep them up yourself…but when God does, He will sustain you. Remain faithful where you are planted as you promptly and faithfully follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit and your spirit (soul, gut instincts?).

Lessons from a humble Place

“Moses'father-in-law said to him, The thing that you are doing is not good. You willsurely wear out both yourself and this people with you, for the thing is tooheavy for you; you are not able to perform it all by yourself…So Moses listened to and heeded the voiceof his father-in-law and did all that he had said. Moses chose able men out ofall Israel and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, ofhundreds, of fifties, and of tens” Exodus 18:17-18, 24-25 NIV,italics and emphasis mine

I have metmany Christians—some anointed great wo/men of God—who believe that all they needis Jesus and everything is going to be alright. Moses was a mighty prophet, buthis success is attributed by him being humble enough to listen to his father inlaw (a gentile priest of ungodly religion).

If you areto succeed exceeding in your Christian walk and life, learn to be spiritual butgrounded. God can use anything to His Glory for our good. Be open to learn fromanything and everything…it is pride and arrogance that keep many from theirnext season/level, refusing to learn from a humble place.

Power to Conceive

“Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.” © Luke 1:35-36, KJV italics and emphasis mine

Mary was confused, how could she conceive and bring forth a child without a man? The Angel of the Lord assured her that, ‘the Holy Ghost and Power of the Highest’ shall come upon her. Paul expound this saying, “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us” (Eph 3:20, KJV)

As you pray and believe God for something, look inward; the Holy Ghost and the Power of the most high will overshadow you and you shall conceive ideas that sometimes comes as gut feeling, intuition, inspiration. As you ACT ON them promptly and in faith, you will find that which you are asking for and much, much more.

Structures and Systems, not Miracles

“…So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them. And God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it [using all its vast resources in the service of God and man]; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and over every living creature that moves upon the earth…” © Gen 1:27,28 italics and emphasis mine

Trusting God for the next meal, rent and fuel money, healing and peaceful existence day in and day out all year round is not spiritual but immature and irresponsible. God is our FATHER, He would rather keep us in health; bless our business, work or investment for financial providence and maintain our peace and harmony than perform operation rescue every day (except when in the wilderness).

When we read “the just shall live by (His) faith”* (Hebr 10:38, KJV) or “seek FIRST (not seek ONLY) the Kingdom of God”* (Matt 6:33, NKJV) it means we live by ‘His way of doing things’ trust in Him. His Kingdom Providence is in setting structures and systems, not daily divine intervention. Ask God for IDEAS leading to a healthy and happy living system of provision. (*italics and brackets mine)

Believers' Authority and Power

“…behold! I have given you authority and power totrample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength andability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall inany way harm you…”

When a physically small and feeble policeman raises his hand to asix feet tall giant semi-trailer driver to stop the truck, the driver stops acknowledgingthe authority and the power that the feeble policemanrepresents. If the driver does not stop, the policeman can use the powerinvested in him—the gun—to force the truck to a stop; if this fails, he callsfor back-up, his colleagues tosupport him against the defaulter.

Human beings, in our natural sense are no match for the devil andhis agents/angels, except for the authority that Jesus gave us and the “power”bestowed to us when the Holy Spiritcame upon us. We can command sickness, diseases, poverty, circumstances, andgenerational curses to flee and call upon health, wealth, peace and blessings.If the battle becomes fierce, call for back-up, request support of fellowbelievers.

Are you Pulled or Pushed?

There aretwo opposing forces that are constantly at work in our life; FEAR, which in essence is the (PULL) force that pulls us back(wards),usually generated from past mistakes, failures, inadequacies (negative experiences)AND HOPE, contrary to fear, it is a(PUSH) force (courage) that propelus forward in spite of the past or/and present.

Fearful peoplefocus on the past experiences;they use the past to judge what the future is going to be for them. Hope-full (faith-full)people focus on the future (dream, aspiration, visions, desires).When you have a business deal, meeting new people, work promotion, investmentpotential…do you pull back in fear (reserved) or push forward (act) in hope?

Finding favour with man

“…Let not mercy and kindness [shutting out all hatred and selfishness] and truth [shutting out all deliberatehypocrisy or falsehood] forsake you; bind them about your neck, write them uponthe tablet of your heart. Soshall you find favour, goodunderstanding, and high esteem in the sight [or judgment] of God and man…” © Proverbs 3:3-4, AMP

People in your life (both good and bad-evil) you attracted them by what you do (did) and/or intend to do (or notdo); likewise, people who aren’t in your life, you repel them in like manner. Therefore, if you don’t like who isaround you or would like to attract quality people around you, look inwards at what you do or don’tdo.

When we have mercy and kindness; we find favour not just with God but with man. Favour goes a long way,over and above experience and qualification. When God wants to promote you, He will bring you into thefavour of the right person…what youdo (or don’t do) then will attract or repel your God given appointment.

Power in Prayer

“…The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]…” James 5:16b, AMP

Prayer is more than simply reciting words to God or communicating (interacting) with Him; prayer is also a way in which we ‘affirm’ and ‘create’ what we are asking of. When we speak (i.e. pray) we hear (faith comes by hearing) but also we as gods, our tongues (speech) have creative power (Proverbs 18:21).

The next time you pray, think of (and listen to) what you are saying (or not saying) for in your prayers you are not just talking to God, you are building your faith and create the very thing you are asking God of. (Caution: your faith (confidence) should be in God who makes it happen, not in your prayers)

Battle of the Mind

“…For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal (physical, body), but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ…” © 2 Cor 10:3-5, KJV italics, brackets and emphasis mine

Many Christians believe that believers only need be spiritual, ignoring the role of the soul (mind) and the body (5 senses). Our mind plays a key role in our daily walk of faith or lack thereof. When the devil allures one he comes to mind; likewise God through His Spirit. Note: 2 Corinthians talks of strongholds, thoughts, knowledge and imaginations i.e. battle of who controls the mind.

Man is a spirit, has a soul (mind: will, intellect, emotions) and lives in the body. Our mind is a crucial platform that interacts (coordinate, relate, relay) between spirit and body, it takes of the spirit into body and vice versa; i.e. It is fed through our natural senses (the body) and from the spirit. Be alert of what you allow into your mind as it influences what you believe (in spirit) and hence practice (in the body).

mirror mirror who is the cutest of them all

It is said if you don’t get a person, study his/her closest allies (friends). What your closest buddies, friends see/view of you will eventually become the view you have of yourself...be it positive or negative...you eventually become them. Your friends in essence hold a mirror against you, be it a false mirror (distorted image) or a true mirror (true reflection of self).

Who are your closest friends; do they reflect the image that God sees in you or belittle and squash your dreams? Do they inspire you and offer constructive criticism or feed your ego against foolish pursuits? It is a serious business who you allow close to you; they either make you or brake you. Chose wisely your friends, qualify them to a position in your life.

Success AFS: Aim, Focus & Shoot

When at Military Training shooting range, we were taught that the best way to hit a target is to first aim (i.e. point your gun at your target), focus (mind, attention, body) then shoot (work it). This is true for shooting live ammunition as well as in our daily busy-ness of life. It is said if you aim at nothing, you will surely hit it.

You can’t aim at what you don’t see, you need to see (spiritually by faith and also using your mental faculties) what you want to achieve, aim at it (with your time, prayers, money and other resources) then focus (concentrate, pay attention, be motivated) and finally you shoot (work at it hard, consistently) in confidence.

Your tongue dictates your life!

“…look also at ships; although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things…” © James 3:4,5 NKJV italics and emphasis mine

Why the baptism of the Holy Spirit is be evidenced with ‘new tongues’? (Acts 2). Why would Zacharias (Luke 1) be made mute when he did not believe God? Why did the wise King (Prov 18:21) say ‘death and life are in the power of the tongue?’ Apostle James says our tongue is like the ship’s rudder that dictate (direct, decide, order, command) where our life should go (end, destiny-destination).

Your tongue may be a small organ but steers you into trouble or treasure, you make the choice. It is so easy to speak of fear, unbelief and negativity; but every time you speak ONE: you create—reinforcement to your belief and hence your reality, and TWO: you change what you speak by changing your belief (what you allow in your heart) for “out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh” Matt 12:34, KJV

What is your Stutter?

“...Then Moses said to the LORD, “O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.”So the LORD said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the LORD? Now therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.”...” (c) Exodus 4:10-12, NKJV italics and emphasis mine

It is amazing that God calls Moses, who had stutter (stammer, speech impediment) to go speak for Him. When Moses offered this as an excuse not to obey the call, God did not offer to heal him; instead He promised to be with him in spite of his shortcoming and weakness. Apostle Paul says, when I am weak, then I am strong (2 Cor 12:10, par)

Has God called you? Do you desire to serve Him in a certain area but feel weak, falling short and inadequate? What is your stutter...lack of funds, not educated enough, physically weak (handicapped), single, married, poor, not known? It is time to put all these aside and obey the call for He who called you knows you and is with you all the way.

A fool and his money

“…for the love (greed, self-indulgency, insatiability) of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows…” © 1 Tim 6:10, NKJV italics, brackets and emphasis mine

“a fool and his money are soon parted”, goes an English proverb. People tend to part ways if the relationship is not working. If money always finds an excuse to leave you, then examine your relationship with it. When purpose is not known, abuse takes place; you may be abusing the relationship you have with money, no wonder it is running away from you!

We are meant to be masters, not slaves, to money; love people and use money to save and serve people. But many are individuals who love money and use (manipulate, abuse, exploit) people to accumulate it, no wonder it (money) runs away from them. Money is also a powerful tool we use to serve God, ourselves and those we are connected with.

Pure and Undefiled Religion

“Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world” © James 1:27 NKJ italics and emphasis mine

Most believers think that a pure religion is being holy (pious) and unspotted from the world first and foremost; Apostle James begs to differ (scripture above). Jesus said, I was hungry—you didn’t feed me, I was naked—you didn’t cloth me so depart from me you cursed into hell (Mat 25:31-45)

People do not care how much we know until they know how much we care. Jesus taught us to ‘care’ for the hurting, those in pain; addressing their pain as the essence of the Gospel. If you are a ‘Christian’, have religion…let us see how it impacts (practically) those in pain and need around you.

Go overboard to be on board

“…But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.”
And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.…” © Matt 14:27-29, NKJV italics and emphasis mine

Insanity is oft defined as doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. James (2:18) says show me your faith in absence of works and I will show you mine by what I do (works). Jesus tells Peter if you believe, ‘come’ and he, Peter, had to ‘step out’ of his comfort and secure zone into water, unstable and unnatural zone TO demonstrate his faith.

Beloved, do you believe God for something? Show us the ‘corresponding action’ of your faith. The number one action is your ‘speech’ what you say/talk about what you believe, then take it a step further, ACT in obedience to God, step up, step out of the comfort of your boat and GO overboard, do something that will ‘shock even you’…DO something in and by faith.

Is your bush burning?

“…the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I. And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground…” © Exo 3:2-5, NIV italics and emphasis mine

God wanted to get Moses—a great leader, an icon, who had ran away from Him—attention, He began to burn the bush close to Moses without consuming it until Moses turned, not to see God but to see the sight of what was happening. When Moses paid attention, God called him from the bush and commanded (not asked) him to take off his shoes.

Is your bush (relationships, work, career, wealth, health) burning? It could be that God wants your attention; so you decide how long the burning illusion lasts. Once you PAY attention, He wants you to take off your shoes—i.e. your thinking, pre-conceived ideas about yourself, your destiny, world, life (paradigm) and wait on Him for a new fresh pair of shoes…

Its the thought that counts

^“Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest. He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God’s house. But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory” © Hebrews 3:1-3, 6 NIV Italics and emphasis mine

Many of us have abused the expression “it’s the thought that counts”, using it as an excuse for their inaction or poor action. But the expression has its own merit; where are your thoughts when you do what you do? Where are your thoughts when you are sick, in want, un-happy, in despair, down and cast, afraid?

I challenge you today to fix, focus, concentrate your thoughts onto Jesus irrespective of what you are going through. I do not mean you ignore your circumstances, but have your trust and faith in Him not in you or your circumstances. If you put your trust in Him, He will show you the way in due time.

Do You Know Whom You Follow?

A story is told of a tourist in New York was struggling to cross roads, highways and tramways when he decided to follow a man in front of him whom he thought looked like a New Yorker, after nearly getting killed twice following the person, he caught up with him and asked, “is this how you cross roads in NY?” to which the guy replied, “why are you stalking me, I am just a tourist from Europe”.

Every one of us, whether consciously or sub-consciously follows (imitate, copy, trust, listen to) someone in different aspects of our pilgrimage in life. So it makes sense to make sure that whoever you are following as you build your career, spiritual life, marriage, business, relationships is ONE: they are whom you assume they are, TWO: they will take you where you want—desire—to go, ultimately.

Listen to Ministry of Pain

“…For the time being no discipline brings joy, but seems grievous and painful; but afterwards it yields a peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it [a harvest of fruit which consists in righteousness--in conformity to God's will in purpose, thought, and action, resulting in right living and right standing with God]…” © Hebrews 12:11, AMP italics and emphasis mine

A headache is a signal that you are overworked and/or tired or a symptom of other illness in the body. Inflamation is signal that your cells needs attention, when you step on the nail or sharp object, pain alerts you to attend to the injured part. Without pain, most treatable diseases and injuries would go un-noticed till its too little too late.

God uses pain to draw our attention to the area that needs our focus and attention to make it whole again. Are you in pain? Feeling hurt and heart broken? Feeling despondent and frustrated? LISTEN TO YOUR PAIN it is talking to you trying desparately to draw your attention to stop or start doing something...pay close attention to your pain.

He Carried Our Sorrows and Griefs

“Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment]…He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole” ©Isa 53:4,5 AMP italics and emphasis mine

It is easy to drift straight into the cross as penalty for our sins and stop there. Yet Jesus did not just suffer and die for sins alone…He took our grief, distress, heartache, weakness, anguish and unhappiness and carried our sorrow and pain as He shamefully and painfully died on the cross.

When in pain, grief, distress, sorrow, weak and sick you can come to Christ and unburden yourself unto Him (talk to Him, tell Him as it is), forget rituals and religious protocols and prayers…talk to Him, relieve yourself unto Him, He cares for you deeply for He knows how you feel.
