Gray Matter Matters

"For if I pray in an [unknown] tongue, my spirit [by the Holy Spirit within me] prays, but my mind is unproductive [it bears no fruit and helps nobody]. Then what am I to do? I will pray with my spirit [by the Holy Spirit that is within me], but I will also pray [intelligently] with my mind and understanding; I will sing with my spirit [by the Holy Spirit that is within me], but I will sing [intelligently] with my mind and understanding also" (c) 1 Cor 14:13-15 AMP, italics and emphasis mine

I have met scores of 'spiritual' brothers/sisters who believe that as long as they 'live in the spirit' all other things will be sorted-out somehow; they make it sound as though once you are born again you can 'kiss your common sense—mind, gray matter—goodbye" this is far from the truth. We may be living in the spirit, but we are in the flesh as well and thus we need our 'sound minds' in place and in use.
 
Paul prays 'in spirit-tongues' and using his mind—intelligence; he knows that our minds play a key role not only in knowing God but also walking and working with Him. One of the secret I have found is, our minds are designed to work smarter with 'goals' and 'milestones vs time' in place. Give your mind a goal and timescale and see how it will work 'with you' to materialize it—not just in prayers but also in practice.

Four Reasons for Material Lack

"Honor the Lord with your capital and sufficiency [from righteous labors] and with the firstfruits of all your income; So shall your storage places be filled with plenty, and your vats shall be overflowing with new wine" © Proverbs 3:9,10 AMP italics and emphasis mine

We all want to live a goodily jolly and comfortable life, having all our wants (and desires) met and have left over for our children's children. Yet many honest—down to earth believers live on a hand to mouth existence, this cannot be God's will surely. King Solomon said, "a good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children(Grandchidren)" Prov 13:22 NIV Think about this for a minute!

I believe there are four reasons why many of us find ourselves in material lack:
1. Not Honour God in giving (offering, alms, sacrificially, strategically—seed), giving is both an act or worship and warship
2. Not Obeying God's specific instruction(s) promptly and timely eg being at the right place at the right time
3. Lack of common sense, God will not help you on this eg living within one's means, creating multiple incomes
4. Being in the wilderness experience, in the dessert either as aseason or due to dis-obedience to God/His servants

Paid in Full 2000yrs ago!

“Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy]. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole” Isaiah 53:4-5 AMP italics and emphasis mine

It is strange, pitiful but nonetheless true that there are people who like to be miserable, sick and pitiful because in this state they get the most needed attention and sympathy of others. They don’t see how they deprive themselves and those around them the joy and peace that Jesus paid for in full.

Let this Easter remind us that Jesus paid the price for our griefs, sorrows and pain, we no longer need to carry them around anymore. We can ask for His attention, love and sympathy that comes with joy and satisfaction which releases us to be and have what destiny has for us in Christ Jesus.
