Insanity Exposed!

"...He (Jesus) said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” But Simon answered and said to Him (Jesus), “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking...." Luke 5:4-6, NKJV, italics, words in bracket and emphasis mine

I love the definition (Elbert Einstein) that insanity is, "...doing the same thing(s) over and over whilst expecting different results..." if you accept this definition, then it is insane to wake up in the morning, go to work, come back home, eat dinner, pray, go to sleep, wake up and go to work again and repeat the same circle over and over whilst expecting 'somehow' things will get better (change), NO THEY WON'T because if you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you have always got.

Prayer (and or reading the bible) alone won't change your circle (circmstance) . Let me speak to those who have prayed for something specific for a long time, I challenge you to go back into your prayer closet and LISTEN to what the Lord has to say AND DO IT. You will be surprised that it is the little hinges that swings big doors and small things that makes big difference. Take heed to what Jesus mother said, "whatever He tells you to do it, DO IT" (John 2:5b)

Bitter Sweet Tabs

“… The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.' ", "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil…” © Genesis 3:2-5, NIV italics and emphasis mine

When we were little, we used to have medicines sugar coated; my mom would say it’s ok its sweet just swallow…well that was not entirely true, was it? Little did we know that inside the sugar coated tablet is bitter medicine. Lucky for us we didn’t chew, we swallowed as quickly as possible. That old serpent is the same, he uses this trick to get you to swallow his bitter tablet.

He would show you the sweet part of sin and disobedience, but not the consequences thereof. God has created us with free will, we have the right to make our own choices, but the truth is while we can choose our actions, we cannot choose the consequences thereof and some consequences of our actions will outlive us like Adam and Eve’s…think twice!

Common Sense, not very common

“…Now there were four men with leprosy at the entrance of the city gate. They said to each other, "Why stay here until we die? If we say, 'We'll go into the city'-the famine is there, and we will die. And if we stay here, we will die. So let's go over to the camp of the Arameans and surrender. If they spare us, we live; if they kill us, then we die…” 2 King 7:3-4 NIV (italics and emphasis mine)

What do you do when you are offered two jobs or you have two opportunities for investments (can’t take them both)…or let us make it interesting, you are a young lady ready to be married and two very spiritual brothers have approached you or you are anointed brother but can't make the choice between the choir mistress or the pastor's daughter AND in all these you have prayed (and fasted) and the Lord is silent.

The four lappers in the text above used common sense and they became God’s instrument to fulfil a prophecy. So my take on this is, in absence of God’s specific direction, you have to USE the MIND that God gave you. You may enquire counsel from others, but ultimately the responsibility is yours to make that choice... While you are waiting on God, He is waiting on you; He is silent for He knows you have what it takes. He says, "...I have set before you life and death, blessing and curses, CHOOSE..." Deut 30:19.

Why Should God Answer Your Prayers?

“…a woman who was a Canaanite from that district came out and, with a [loud, troublesomely urgent] cry, begged, Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is miserably and distressingly and cruelly possessed by a demon. But He did not answer her a word. And His disciples came and implored Him, saying, Send her away, for she is crying out after us...” © Matt 15:22-23 AMP, italics and emphasis mine

Millions of children die of starvation, diseases and broken heart every year; millions of adult die pre-maturely for similar or many other misfortunes. Most of these, at one point or another, must have cried out to God for help…did God ignore them or was un-able to help? Why should He then hear and answer your prayers? Scripturally speaking, God does not respond to pain and suffering but to those who reach out to Him by faith

This may sound harsh/cruel (and somewhat controversial), but I believe that God would not respond just because one is in pitiful (pathetic) situation. You will have to pray (invite, ask, seek Him), act out your faith (acting what you believe in) and remain in faith in-spite of the circumstances until He answers. Yet, there are times He chooses not to respond; the book, “Where is God when it hurts” by Philip Yancey highly recommended.
