Pick your Battles!

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses” (c) 1 Tim 6:12 KJV, italics and emphasis mine

Not every battle (enemy) is for you to fight, we need to be wise and sensitive to the prompting of the Holy Spirit so that we know when to stand, when to run or simply walk away from an assault hauled against us. If you insist on fighting every battle set before you, it will take away your focus, energy and time to work on your real progress.

My personal conviction is ONE: Only engage where there is a peace of God to do so, TWO: In absence of God’s specific instruction, use common sense—what do you stand to gain from the onslaught? What will you lose if you don’t fight? What I am trying to say is: learn to pick your battles—not every enemy is for you to fight. Golden rule: silence cannot be misquoted!

Failure is Subjective!

“But test and prove all things [until you can recognize] what is good; [to that] hold fast.” © 1 Thessalonians 5:21, AMP italics and emphasis mine

No one likes to fail—we believe that
failure and weakness (and shame) are synonymous; we believe that when we fail we are weak (slow) and ought to be ashamed of ourselves. This belief is deeply rooted from the childhood when we began learning—our teachers (and parents) instilled it in us believing it will motivate us to give our best not realizing how it will paralyze and limit us for the rest of our lives.

When we become fearful of failing, we shun from attempt anything in life. But it is
better to attempt (try, test) and fail than having to live with oneself wondering what if I had tried. Failing at ‘something’ (that one has given his best) does not make one a failure. Anyone who has achieved anything worthwhile has failed at some point, the difference between a failure and success is in
 how we deal with failure.
