Does Fasting Change God?

“…Is this the kind of fast I have chosen, only a day for a man to humble himself? Is it only for bowing one's head like a reed and for lying on sackcloth and ashes? Is that what you call a fast, a day acceptable to the LORD ? “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?...”© Isaiah 58:5,6 NIV, italics and emphasis mine

For some reasons I was led (taught) to believe that fasting is like ‘twisting’ God’s arm to do what ‘I want’ in spite of His will. But as I began to study the word on the subject matter, I realise that fasting aims to change me, not God. When I fast (deprive the body AND SOUL) of its desires, I tone them down and thus elevate my spirit, becoming more God (spirit) conscious—to know and do HIS will.

Isa 58:6-7,10 illustrate the fasting that pleases God, it turns out not to be the actual fasting but what you do when you fast—as you become God conscious. He says, Vv 8-9, then you will call and I will answer, not because you have fasted, but in response to what you have done… indeed, fasting changes us (to know and do His will) and in turn God hearkens our plead.
