Why Call Me Lord?

“...but why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?...” (c) Luke 6:46, NKJV, italics mine

The early church understood very clearly what it meant to call Jesus the LORD over their lives, and sadly many paid the price with their lives. Back then it was either Caesar or Jesus to be the LORD. Today, we have many Christians who call Jesus their Lord but would not do what He ‘orders’, we ignore, challenge, debate him and make him our grandpa!

If Jesus is truly our LORD (not boss), then we are His SERVANTS, (purchased by his precious blood) what He orders goes. But if you are honest with yourself, there are a number of things that YOU KNOW you have to do as ordered of the Lord but you have put them aside for convenient time...when you have time and thus, Jesus ceases to be your Lord.

Does Fasting Change God?

“…Is this the kind of fast I have chosen, only a day for a man to humble himself? Is it only for bowing one's head like a reed and for lying on sackcloth and ashes? Is that what you call a fast, a day acceptable to the LORD ? “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?...”© Isaiah 58:5,6 NIV, italics and emphasis mine

For some reasons I was led (taught) to believe that fasting is like ‘twisting’ God’s arm to do what ‘I want’ in spite of His will. But as I began to study the word on the subject matter, I realise that fasting aims to change me, not God. When I fast (deprive the body AND SOUL) of its desires, I tone them down and thus elevate my spirit, becoming more God (spirit) conscious—to know and do HIS will.

Isa 58:6-7,10 illustrate the fasting that pleases God, it turns out not to be the actual fasting but what you do when you fast—as you become God conscious. He says, Vv 8-9, then you will call and I will answer, not because you have fasted, but in response to what you have done… indeed, fasting changes us (to know and do His will) and in turn God hearkens our plead.

Authority of the Believer

“...behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you...” (c) Luke 10:19, AMP (italics and emphasis mine)

The traffic officer may not have physical powers (strength) to stop a 16 wheeler truck; but when he lifts his hand to motion the truck to stop, it does. You see, the traffic officer has the authority to stop the truck AND the power of the government (or crown for UK) stands behind him and as long as he is enlisted, he is trusted with this authority to do good.

As Christians, and ministers of the Gospel, we have the authority in the name of Jesus Christ (and the power of the Almighty God behind, beside and in-front of us); all we have to do is ‘speak’ to the circumstance in the name of Jesus. So the next time you face a situation, remember you have the authority (and the power of God) at your disposal—use it.

Is your faith better than demons'?

“…thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead…for as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also…” James 2:17,26 NKJV, italics and emphasis mine

Show me your faith without works, says James, and I will show you mine by my works (James 2:18); he continues to say if you believe there is God, fine, even demons believe and tremble but that accounts for nothing to them. If you believe, then your belief must be accompanied by corresponding action (proportionate to your faith lest you become presumptuous) otherwise it is futile.

You believe God for employment? Let us see you seeking and knocking them doors; believe God for healing? let us hear you speak of health and wellbeing; believe God for spouse? let us see you talk, dress and behave accordingly…bottom line, if you believe God for something YOU MUST SEEK TO DO A CORRESPONDING ACTION otherwise your faith is as good as demons’ and will profit you NOTHING.
