Your Call or His?

“…in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues…” 1 Cor 12:28 NIV, italics and emphasis mine

One of the most frequently asked questions in the new believers class is “how do I know my calling and assignment in the body of Christ?” Well, first and foremost God is the one who appoints men (women) in His callings and second, He will speak, show, communicate TO YOU (spirit)…deep down in your heart, you will know.

Yes, but what if I am not spirit conscious? Then listen to “what touches your heart most, what pains you when you see it go wrong”, “what angers you when it is not done properly”, “what excite and makes you happy, fulfills your heart even if you are not paid to do it” ask yourself this, “what would I really loved to do in the Kingdom (for God and His people) if money was not an issue

Confident or Arrogant?

“…Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus…” Acts 4:13 NKJV, italics and emphasis mine

Apostle Paul, with his doctorate in law, Hebrew of Hebrews and a descendant of Abraham; says that if he has to boast, it will be in the things that shows his weakness (2 Cor 11:30). Weakness? he talks of the moment he was hidden and escaped over a window in a basket as he ran for his dear life. Today Ministers (and Christians) hide their weakness and parade their achievement.

Ministers (and Christians) today arrogantly display their achievements as the source of their boldness and loudness. I am not against achievements, I’m all for achievements—wealth, education, ministry…but note that it was so evident even to people that Peter and John’s confidence/boldness was from the fact that they had been with Jesus! Can we say the same of you?

Location Location Location

“…Then the word of the LORD came to Elijah: "Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan. You will drink from the brook, and I have ordered the ravens to feed you there…” 1 King 17:2-3 NIV, italics and emphasis mine

As I flew into London I was full of expectations; I thought that once I set my feet in England, all my financial problems will disappear…but after my first paycheck and all my bills paid, I was despondent to realize how much was left. When I visited Oxford and London, I was surprised to see beggars and homeless white/black people roaming the cities.

The truth of the matter is, there are wealthy and poor people in the so called developing world as well as in the developed world. As Christians, we need to seek God to know where we ought to be, not where we want to be, for where we ought to be God He has commanded ravens to feed us.

Rule 'n Reign from Ur Closet

“…Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence…” 1 Tim 2:1-2 NKJV, italics and emphasis mine

As Christians, sometimes we are caught in the media frenzy, engulfed in “talk, criticism, blame etc” about our leaders and those in authority (both in government and church). We are quick to point to what and who was or is wrong…yet Paul reminds us that we ought to take our spiritual position in the governance and God’s Kingdom.

I support Christians who take leadership in the government and church, and those who give government pressure by referendums etc. But you can also reign and take charge by praying and interceding. Your prayers will overrule and interject un-peaceful and un-righteous decisions our leaders make or about to make; prayers changes things….
