He's up 2 something, always!

“…we are assured and know that [God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose…” Romans 8:28 AMP [italics & emphasis mine]

I look back in retrospect into things that kept me awake, my anxiety, my fear and yes, my worries; I realize now that most of the things I worried about weren’t so crucial after all for my destiny. I recall my former boss who treated me extremely unfairly constantly, today I am glad he did what he did for if he hadn’t, I would not have courage to resign and move on…while I was fixated on a small picture, God was working on the bigger painting.

Romans 8:28 says all things works together for good, but only for ‘those who love God’ and those ‘who are called to His purpose’. Even when we make mistakes, God is able to turn them around (when submitted to Him) and work’em out for our good. When Joseph was sold to be a slave, thrown in prison and forsaken…God used his down time to work out something marvelous—he eventually ended up saving lives of thousands Egyptians and Israel from famine…WHEN THE DEVIL IS UP TO NO GOOD, GOD IS UP TO SOMETHING…just hang in there and trust in Him (God) regardless!

Is it what or who you know?

“…David said to the Philistine, "You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied…as the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him…so David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him…” I Samuel 17:45-50 NIV [italics & emphasis mine]

It is so easy to be hung up with what we know…our knowledge, qualifications and experience. This, more often than not, tend to make us proud and arrogant (like the loud mouth Goliath). While I know there is time and place for our knowledge and experience, our confidence should be in whom we know and not what we know. David said, that the Lord was/is his confidence since his youth and he should be yours too (Psalm 71:5, Proverbs 3:26).

Goliath approached David with what he knew, he was an experienced fighter, large in size and fully armoured in protective war gear—he had all the advantage. David on the other hand, came against Goliath with whom he knew, the Almighty God of Israel. David’s little experience in the wilderness was but a training that helped him to build his belief in God (I Sam 17:37) Are you facing life’s Goliath? Is it debts, illness, lack or any other social, financial and spiritual challenge/problem…know your God and what He can do and put your confidence in Him—proclaim the end while in the midst of it by/in faith. No wonder Daniel said, “…the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits…” [Dan 11:32b, NKJV italics and emphasis mine]

Fact or Opinion?

“…then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free…” John 8:32 NIV

[italics & emphasis mine]

A close friend of mine once told me that I should never marry women from “X” tribe as they ‘all’ tend to batter their husbands, born-again or otherwise. She was so confident about her ‘sweeping statement’ that she was convinced it was not an opinion but a proven statistical fact. Some people are like that, so confident about what they know, say or do so much so that they convince everyone that their opinion is actually a hard proven fact. Some sects believe that it is a biblical fact that ‘miracles were for the apostles and the early church’ and that the gift of Holy Spirit (and tongues) is for but a few God’s pre-elect.

The Late Dr. Ed L. Cole once said, when people fail, they build a philosophy around their failure which is nothing but rationalization to justify their failure. The sad thing is, if you accept their philosophy, you have accepted and inherited their failure…do you build your life on opinion or God proven hard fact? What is more, facts may change but ‘the truth’ remains for ever. When we know the truth, God’s truth, it sets us free from statistics, people’s opinion and any past experience good or bad. We become free to build our lives on God’s words.

waiting is a bore?

“…We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised…” Hebrews 6:12 NIV [italics & emphasis mine]

Sometimes when we have waited for the Lord FOR A LONG TIME we tend to think that either God has forgotten all about us or He has neither interest nor intention to answer our petition/prayers. When we do that, we fall into the trap of helping ourselves. Abraham waited for a long time for the promise (a child), finally his wife gave up and gave him to their maid for a wife-who bore Ishmael. When God finally visited Sarah and gave them a son, a conflict broke up between Sarah and the maid…that conflict still stands today between the maid son’s descendants (Palestine/Arabs) and Sarah’s descendants (Israel).

When you have a word from the Lord or believe God for something; hold strong the confession of your faith and wait patiently for the Lord’s Season and time to visit you. Resist the temptation to ‘help yourself’ or ‘help God’ creating short cuts (short circuits) for while we may be free to choose our actions, we can not choose the consequences thereof. When you have done your part faithfully and effectively, stand firm and wait for the Lord for though He tarry, He will show up timely.

Plan to Prosper 2008!

“…For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future …” Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV [italics & emphasis mine]

Purpose proceeds plan, plans are created to achieve a purpose; when God talks of plans to prosper us, giving us hope and a future, it is because he has a purpose in mind. I believe that when we find our unique and specific God’s purpose for our life, we find fulfillment, joy, provision, abundance and peace. Fulfillment comes from fulfilling the purpose for which we were created. Sometimes in the midst of life’s storms and heartaches we forget that God knows it all, in-fact nothing catches Him by surprise…He saw it coming and allowed it to come FOR A PURPOSE. When we know that God knows/knew we immediately get peace and courage TO FACE whatever life throws at us.

In 2008, find God’s purpose for your life and pursue it faithfully and truthfully and you will have found your fulfillment and prosperity-everything else becomes secondary and redundant!
