Prayer is more than praying!

And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, saying, Jesus, Son of David, have pity and mercy on me [now]! And many  severely censured and reproved him, telling him to keep still, but he kept on shouting out all the more, You Son of David, have pity and mercy on me [now]! And Jesus stopped and said, Call him. And they called the blind man, telling him, Take courage! Get up! He is calling you. And throwing off his outer garment, he leaped up and came to Jesus. And Jesus said to him, What do you want Me to do for you? And the blind man said to Him, Master, let me receive my sight. And Jesus said to him, Go your way; your faith has healed you. And at once he received his sight and accompanied Jesus on the road ” © Mark 10:46-52, AMP italics and emphasis mine

Prayer is much more than communicating to God; in prayers we enunciate (give shape, image/picture) and reinforce into our minds what we ask. The more we enunciate, the more vivid the image takes shape and form in the mind and thus establish more confidence (faith) towards the realization.

But more importantly, as gods, when we speak—faith filled words—we project into existence what we speak of. This is why we are urged to pray without ceasing, for in doing so we not only continually make our case before God but we impart in our minds the image of the desired result and create with our words what we ask of.

Do you have His 'Will'?

In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen.” © Acts 1:1-2, NIV italics and emphasis mine

A “will” also known as “testament” is a legal declaration (normally written down by the witness/lawyer) that a person makes on how his affairs—properties—should be managed upon his/her death. When Jesus died (buried, rose and ascended to heaven), He left us a “will”, a legal declaration, on how we should handle the affairs of His Kingdom until His return.

Thus, God’s general will is found in the written testament—Logos; God’s specific will for an individual is revealed in the Logos as Rhemaword. God also uses dreams, visions, angels and people to communicate a specific will for an individual. But in absence of general and specific instruction for a particular scenario, the rule of thumb is to use common sense-wisdom-without contradicting God’s general will.

Twisting God's Arm!

"Is it a fast that I have chosen, a day for a man to afflict his soul?  Is it to bow down his head like a bulrush, and to spread out sackcloth and ashes?  Would you call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the Lord? "Is this not the fast that I have chosen:  To loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke? "Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; when you see the naked, that you cover him, and not hide yourself from your own flesh?" © Isaiah 58:5-7, NKJV italics and emphasis mine

I used to believe that fasting is like twisting God's arm so that He can release/give to me what He has chosen to withhold…in essence, it is like a way to re-mote control God to do what I want regardless of His will, plan or purpose. I still believe that when I was baby Christian it worked that way, but as I begin to grow and understand God and His word, it works no more!!!

Fasting primarily does two things, ONE, it demonstrates my seriousness re the case/issue I am presenting. TWO, it quietens my flesh thus heightening my spirit to hear from/of God. God does not necessarily speak because I am fasting, I HEAR HIM because I am fasting. Remember what you don't feed—withers and/or dies. Feed your spirit (prayers and meditation) and deny your flesh, an excellent spiritual exercise.
