Strengthened 2b Blameless

“…May he strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless and holy in the presence of our God and Father when our Lord Jesus comes with all his holy ones…” 1 Thes 3:13 NIV, italics and emphasis mine

Why does one need to be strengthened (other translation say established) to be blameless (innocent, spotless, untarnished)? .it is because we need God’s strength not to repay evil for evil, not to take a short-cut which can solve problems but taint ones heart. We need God’s strength to remain pure in heart and mind when everything around us is corrupted.

Paul is praying for the saints, not sinners, in Thessalonica that God will strengthen, empower and establish their hearts so that they have the power to say no to anything that will put blame (blemish, spot, guile) in their hearts, I pray the same to everyone today…may you have courage to say NO to the evil one and YES to the Holy Spirit, every time.

In all thy getting, get Wisdom

“…Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding…” Proverbs 4:7 NKJV, italics and emphasis mine

When God asked King Solomon to ask anything, he could have asked for riches, wealth, power, long life and all that; but instead he asks for wisdom. Surprisingly King Solomon in the above text did not say prayer, meditation, righteousness and humility. What is wisdom then? Wisdom is application of knowledge needed to live a good (Godly?) life.

Wisdom goes beyond knowing and understanding available options…it is the application thereof; to be wise, one must have knowledge. Dr Ed L Cole said, “…knowledge is acquiring of facts, understanding is interpretation of facts but wisdom is application of acquired and understood facts…Do you lack wisdom? According to James 1:5 you can pray (ask) for it…you need it to be successful in life.

God Vs Income

“…Honor the Lord with your capital and sufficiency [from righteous labors] and with the firstfruits of all your income; So shall your storage places be filled with plenty, and your vats shall be overflowing with new wine…” Proverbs 3:9-10 AMP, italics and emphasis mine

Most churches teach about offerings (to God), few teach about tithes and sacrifices, very few teach about giving to the poor and the needy even though part of the tithe was meant for them (poor and the needy amongst us)…yet extremely few teach about first-fruit.

Honoring God with your first-fruit (first income, harvest, profit) is not about giving; it is about love and worship. It is acknowledging that it all belongs to God and that He is the one who gave it to you in the first place. It is about God being God of all of you including your income.

write it down

“…The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, “Thus speaks the LORD God of Israel, saying: ‘Write in a book for yourself all the words that I have spoken to you. For behold, the days are coming,’ says the LORD, ‘that I will bring back from captivity My people Israel and Judah,’ says the LORD…” Jeremiah 30:1-3 NKJV, italics and emphasis mine

In 1953 Yale University conducted a survey of graduating class and found that only 3% had ‘written goals’. 20 years later, in 1973, they followed the same class and found that those 3% had not only achieved their goals overwhelmingly but also their net worth was more than that of the other 97% combined...

Jeremiah was told to write down the prophecy; God wanted him to have a point of reference for him and future generation. When God speaks to you, about your dreams, vision, goal, mission in life…write it down…Have a special book to document your conversation with Him. Then visit these often and you will be amazed!

Homosexuality, Lifestyle or Sinful act?

“…For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due…” Romans 1:26,27 NKJV, italics and emphasis mine

Homosexuality (same gender sexual relation) is not new; we see it as early as Sodom and Gomorrah (Gen 19). Men of these cities openly demanded to have sex with angels who had come in the form of men (Vv 5). This movement (which went underground for years) surfaced with a great vigor in the west sweeping across cities and towns.

The Western world calls it a “lifestyle”, Africa, Asia and China catching up fast. Yet the word of God is clear, 1 Cor 6:9; as believers we are not called to be homophobic but to love and try to win everyone to Christ for we know there is no difference between a sinner (homosexuality) and a sinner (liar, witch, thief)…God hate sin but loves sinners.
