If God doesn't touch you

“…Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years…She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. For she said, “If only I may touchHis clothes, I shall be made well.” Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction…” © Mark 5:25-29, NKJV, italics and emphasis mine

Many of us Christians take a passive role when it comes to receiving what we are looking for from the Lord. The song, “pass me not oh gentle saviourwhile on others thou' art calling, do not pass me by” is all to familiar. We wait on God to touch us, to minister to us and to respond to our needs. No no no my friend there is another way, if God does not touch you, you can touch Him…If God does not come to you, you can go to Him. Forget the old passive gospel of waiting on the Lord, you can follow Him where He is and touch Him to move on your behalf.

This woman (above scripture) became pro-active in pursuit of her desire and she got what she wanted. You can touch God like her byextending your faith into action to manifest your desires. You can also touch God by fighting and contending with Him like Jacob (Israel—Gen 32:22-30) or like the Canaanite woman pleading and interceding (Matthew 15:22-28) until you get your heart’s desire...by any means necessary, If God doesn't touch you YOU CAN TOUCH HIM RIGHT NOW!

Hand out isn't a hand up

“…a blind man, Bartimaeus (that is, the Son of Timaeus), was sitting by the roadside begging. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!" Jesus stopped and said, "Call him." So they called to the blind man, "Cheer up! On your feet! He's calling you." Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus…” © Mark 10:46-52, NIV (italics and emphasis mine)

It is amazing but true that some folks that you think are your friends actually enjoy when you are beneath them; when you live off their mercy and grace. It makes them feel superior and important. IMF, World Bank and the so called developed countries are good examples with their so called help to ‘developing countries’.

People around Bar-Timaeus were happy to give him alms and ‘spare change’ but when he began to ask for ‘hand up’, they shouted at him to be quiet…you are making a scene, they said and discouraged him from seeking help. You want to know your ‘true’ friends, it is those who give you and hand out when you ‘need’ one but also work hard to give you a hand up.

when helping U is hurting me!

“…My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you, how I wish I could be with you now and change my tone, because I am perplexed about you!...” © Gal 4:19-20, NIV italics and emphasis mine

Those who truly and sincerely minister unto you endure much in order to protect, guide and nurture you into maturity in Christ. On one hand is the devil and on the other is your weakness, wickedness and stubborn spirit. Paul speaks of childbearing pains indicate he was struggling to birth something out those he was addressing whilst they were stubbornly stuck in what they believed and wanted for themselves. As a minister I know too well the pains of nurturing someone can be so real.

You can help those who minister to you by being there for them, praying for them and relieving them of unnecessary burdens; trivial incidents they really shouldn't have to deal with . Hebrews 13:17, AMP, says, “…Obey your spiritual leaders and submit to them…for they are constantly keeping watch over your souls and guarding your spiritual welfare…let them do this with gladness and not with sighing and groaning, for that would not be profitable to you…”

U need a mentor!

"...You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier..." © 2 Tim 2:1-4, NKJV, italics mine

It is said we learn through mistakes, but I say you can learn through the mistakes of your mentor. A mentor is someone who has gone before you and is willing to pour his/her heart and experience to help you. He or She will not be there to please or baby-seat you but he or she will be there primarily to help you draw out of you the potentials laying dormant within you with minimum pain and at optimum time.

Think about it, Joshua had Moses; Elisha had Elijah; Timothy had Paul...who do you have? your mentor will help you arrive at a destination with min time and pain, you don't have to learn the hard way, if you have a mentor...are you looking for a 'short cut' in life, get a mentor. I don't need a personal mentor, I have my pastor (and a virtual pastor); but the truth is your pastor can only effectively mentor very few people at a time—Jesus mentored 12.
