Guided Tour

“…I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you…” Psalms 32:8, NIV italics and emphasis mine

Tourists visiting foreign lands pay large sums of money to get guided tour service; they could have done without it, but they know it would take them longer (and perhaps cost more) if they do without the guide. God says in the above text that He will give us “instructions” (direct, step by step guidance) and “teach” (train, educate, coach) us they way we should follow.

Most of us only go to God for spiritual matters but when frustrated at work, broke, sick, marriage failing, needs to make critical decisions…we call people! But God promised to give us step by step instruction on everything that we want to do, showing us practical ways of what to do as He watches over us, all you need is to go to Him and listen as He guides.

Tune your Receiver

“…my son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh…” © Proverbs 4:20-22, KJV, italics and emphasis mine

Years ago we bought our first (black n’ white) TV, it had indoor aerial (chadema), we worked so hard to get reception from the local broadcasts; we took turn holding up the aerial whilst lifting up one hand and leg acrobatically leaning towards the window…Yet our neighbour, who had a satellite dish, received clear colour signals from afar off effortlessly.

Some people say due to increased wickedness of mankind God has stopped speaking. I believe those who will get their satellite dish installed, “inclined” in the right direction and switch on their digital receiver will agree that God still speaks today. If you are struggling to hear from God, it is not about God but rather about your position and inclination (heart, attitude, belief) towards Him.

Overly Righteous?

“…do not be overly righteous, nor be overly wise: Why should you destroy yourself…” Eccl 7:16, © NKJV, italics and emphasis mine

A young lad sought advice as to what he should do as he just got saved and he’s been assisting his parents on their local bar (brewing and serving local/traditional beer)…what would you have told him? would your advice change if the family business was a brothel or drug dealing?

Before you answer think about this, what did King Solomon mean when he said being overly righteous/wise will destroy you. Was King Solomon tripping after loosing the battle to Assyrian army or there is truly such thing as being overly righteous or wise? I LEAVE THIS WEEK’S POSTING OPEN

virtuous woman

"a capable, intelligent, and virtuous woman--who is he who can find her? She is far more precious than jewels and her value is far above rubies or pearls" (c) Proverbs 31:17 AMP, italics and emphasis mine.

Beauty is not skin deep, but I think there are a handful of women whose beauty is only in the depth of their skin. While a woman's beauty may get her access to some places (including a husband's heart), it takes the depth of character to keep her place secure in those places.

Proverbs 31 paints virtuous woman attributes as an entrepreneur/ business person, but the term “virtue” (virtuous) means good, desirable, high merit quality. Does a woman like this exist? If she does, who can find her for unlike beauty; her virtue is hidden inside, only making an appearance when summoned.
