“…Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position…” 2 Pet 3:17, TNIV (italics and emphasis mine)
There is an old adage which goes, “where we stand determines what we see”. Where you stand is the position that you take in life on different issues; your stance is unique about you, it sets you apart from another. Standing for something demands discipline (restraints), determination (resolve) and direction (vision).
If you are to achieve anything worthwhile in life, you have to stand for something. You cannot afford to be tossed to and fro by people’s opinion, comments or view. The truth is, if you don’t stand for something, you will fall for everything…If you have not found what you are willing to die for, you have not found what to live for!

No questions asked!
“…Jesus said to them, "Come with me. I'll make a new kind of fisherman out of you. I'll show you how to catch men and women instead of perch and bass." They didn't ask questions. They dropped their nets and followed. A dozen yards or so down the beach, he saw the brothers James and John, Zebedee's sons...he made the same offer. Immediately, they left their father Zebedee, the boat, and the hired hands, and followed…” Mark 1:16-20, MSG (italics and emphasis mine)
Jim Elliot, a modern martyr wrote, “he is no fool who gives up what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot loose”. Simon, Andrew, James and John did not know Jesus, not in person...yet when “he made an offer” they did not question (they asked later, much later). We see that the disciples dropped everything—family, friends, career, business, partners—all in pursuit of what they believed Jesus will offer them, better than what they had.
Today Jesus is asking of us for the same obedience, same level of trust and prompt response to His command…yet we question, reason, challenge and demand assurance beforehand. Is God asking and prompting you to do something for Him, His kingdom? Ask questions no more just do it, follow what His mother told others, “…whatever he tells you, DO IT…” John 2:5b MSG.

Door Locked? Get the Key…
“…I will give you the keys of the kingdom of Heaven: whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven…” Matthew 16:19, NJB (italics and emphasis mine)
“education is the key”, goes an old adage; well...where there is a key, there is a lock, and where there is lock there is a door or gate. My mentor once told me that education (qualifications) may open “some” door locks, but it takes competence and character to keep you inside the door. In most cases, however, it is not what you know but who you know that gets you through the door.
Jesus, responding to Peter’s revelation of “who Jesus was” said He will give him the “keys” of the Kingdom—to open (free) and close (bind) whatever he chooses. What is it that has locked (bound) you? sin? addiction? poverty? sickness? Find the right key in revelation of who Jesus (the word) is, unlock that door (practice by faith what the revelation in the word says) and walk right out to freedom…you have to find the key and do the opening!

Scar Tissues
“…in love there is no room for fear, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear implies punishment and no one who is afraid has come to perfection in love…” 1 John 4:18, NJB, italics and emphasis mine
Scars are areas of fibrous tissue that replace normal skin after an injury. The body will often produce extra thick fibrous tissues—scar—which is more resistant to injury. This is a natural way of the skin to protect itself against possible future injuries. Nonetheless, the scar tissues are inferior functionally, e.g. less resistant to UV radiation, sweat glands and hair follicles do not grow back on scars.
Most of us have grown “scar tissues” in areas that we have been hurt before. We have become “thick, hard, tough” in some respect—lest we are hurt again. This explain why we don’t trust, love one another the way we ‘used to’; we are less committed to ministry, church or community…scars…if we build our future on them, we are building from an inferior place and will not be able to operate to full potential.
