Servant-Hood not Lordship!

"After that, he (Jesus) poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him…When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them.
“You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet" John 13:5, 12-14, NKJV italics and emphasis mine

It was a Jewish customs for servants to wash guests' feet as they enter the living room for they will have dusty and muddy feet/shoes walking from wherever they came from. When Jesus washed His disciples' feet, He took on a role of a servant; Peter could not understand this concept.

It is important to remind ourselves, particularly those in the position of leadership, we are called to serve and save—that is to serve others with humility of heart, love and compassion. The more God exalt and uses us, the more humble we need to be for God will not share His Glory.
