“…The is like something precious buried in a field, which a man found and hid again; then in his joy he goes and sells all he has and buys that field…” Matt 13:44 AMP, italics and emphasis mine
I find it strange that Jesus talks of the Kingdom of heaven as something hidden, buried in the field. But 1 Cor 1:18 helps us to understand for it says the message of the cross is foolishness (silly, idiotic, nonsense, thoughtless) to those who are perishing. In other words, the message of the Kingdom is hidden to those perishing.
He continues to say that this wise guy went AND SOLD ALL HE HAD and came back to purchase THE WHOLE FIELD. 1 Pet 2:1-3 tells us that now that we've tasted the Lord, we ought to desire the "whole thing" so that we may be completed. Let us be prepared to sell everything else in order to get what matters most.
