When the Brook Dries...

“…So he (Elijah) did what the Lord had told him. He went to the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan, and stayed there. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook. Some time later the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land. Then the word of the Lord came to him.  Go at once to Zarephath in the region of Sidon and stay there. I have directed a widow there to supply you with food.”…” © 1 King 17:5-9 NIV italics, emphasis and words in bracket mine

It is amazing how many folks suffer shipwreck for holding on to what worked in the past; we hold on to people, circumstances, places, jobs, business you name it whilst deep down inside the Holy Spirit is asking us to let go. God is your SOURCE and everything and everyone else simply a MEANS, so when the means dries up, check up with the source for NEW inspiration, direction and instructions.

When the brook dries you need to commune deeply with the Spirit of God for distinctive specific direction (wisdom, instructions). Sometimes it may be due to dis-obedience on your part but many are times it is simply time has run out on that place and you need to evolve if you are to breakthrough. Don’t be caught hung up on what worked yesterday while the Holy Ghost is dispense fresh manner for TODAY.
