Common Sense isn't common

“…there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate; and they said to one another, “Why are we sitting here until we die? If we say, ‘We will enter the city,’ the famine is in the city, and we shall die there. And if we sit here, we die also.. Now therefore, come, let us surrender to the army of the Syrians. If they keep us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall only die…” 2 King 7:3-9, NKJV, italics mine

Some of us believe that when we become Christians we kiss our brains, common sense, goodbye! We spiritualize everything, but let’s think about this, (extreme examples) how many of us would not wake up in the morning unless God wakes you up? Or how many would not go to work unless the Holy Spirit says so? Or who amongst us has ever been told by God to take shower or brush teeth?

In the above text, the four lepers thought, used common sense; they said if we stay here we die, if we go to our enemies we may live…so they chose to go to their enemies camp and all the while God was setting them up to discover the victory that he has already won for them. My point is, in absence of God’s specific direction in life, we should and have to use common sense, wisdom and in it, we will find the Lord.
